Within a stone’s throw of Christmas Day, Brazilian clubs were relatively sleepy in the transfer market on Sunday.
São Paulo have announced another addition while Grêmio and Fluminense are turning over nearly every stone looking for their own reinforcements.
The Tricolor Paulista stole the headlines on Sunday by officially announcing the arrival of Tiago Volpi on a one-year loan from Querétaro.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper generated a bit of buzz with regard to suiting up for Mexico as a naturalized citizen while impressing with the Gallos Blancos and Volpi may further catch the eye playing in Série A.
Volpi is projected to be the clear number one for São Paulo after the team unsuccessfully shifted between Sidão and Jean throughout the 2018 campaign.
Internacional have put pen to paper on one deal and may be close to securing another.
The Colorado are set to announce the arrival of forward Neílton from Vitória; the 24-year-old will join Inter as midfielder Andrigo and defender Thales head in the opposite direction.
Internacional are also interested in signing Elias from Atlético-MG as the 33-year-old could offer quality both on the field and in the locker room. Despite the clear needs he fills, Inter are not as confident about concluding this deal.
Fluminense are busy trying to turn Jádson into a trio of players from Cruzeiro. Flu want to receive midfielder Bruno Silva, full-back Ezequiel, and centre back Digão but each player has separate contract circumstances that need to be resolved.
Grêmio are close to confirming the arrival of Rômulo from Flamengo but that’s not the Porto Alegre side’s only business.
Argentine forward Mauro Boselli has recently been linked with a move away from Club León, where he is currently in his sixth season. The 33-year-old was proposed to recent Mexican champions Club América but now the Tricolor Immortal have thrown their hat in the ring to sign the veteran striker.
Atlético Paranaense are looking to bring in 25-year-old forward Kelvin who has played for Vasco da Gama most recently. The Furacão hope to use Kelvin as a like-for-like replacement for Marcinho, whose loan spell at the club ended at the conclusion of the 2018 season.
