Roma executive Tiago Pinto urged the team to get back to winning ways tonight versus Cagliari following two heavy defeats against Milan and Juventus.

The Giallorossi are winless in their last three league fixtures with their last victory coming nearly one month against Atalanta on 16 December.

“I think more-so than the table, the struggle is with ourselves. We have to win tonight,” Pinto told DAZN.

“The last two losses have been brutal, but this is how football goes sometimes: the face of the winner looks nothing like the face of the loser. Today we have a chance to move forward in a season that still has ways to go.”

“We’re here to compete and win.”

Finally, Pinto commented on Roma’s newest transfer reinforcement, Sergio Oliveira.

The midfielder officially joined the club two days ago from Porto and was immediately inserted into Jose Mourinho’s starting formation against Cagliari.

“I joked with him because I came from Benfica and he’s from Porto. I don’t think I could’ve acquired him if I was still at Benfica, but I’m happy now that’s with us.”

He added, “He’s a player with huge personality and I’m very glad to managed to bring him here.”
