With the signing of Luan from Grêmio basically a done deal, Corinthians are now set to move on in their bid to freshen their squad ahead of the 2020 season.
The €4.8m agreement for Luan will be formally announced in the coming days and it is expected that the midfielder will be the first of six players to be brought in by new coach Tiago Nunes.
According to Gazeta Esportiva, Nunes has identified a midfielder, wide attackers, a left-back and a central defender as his priorities.
Nunes has reportedly submitted three options for each position to the Corinthians board, with Dynamo Kiev’s Sidcley, former Fluminese attacker Michael and Colombian defensive midfielder Victor Cantillo among the names on a leaked target list.
Duílio Monteiro Alves, Corinthians football director, will be the man tasked with getting Nunes the players he requires.
The Timão are taking a different approach to the transfer market than previous years. Rather than spreading a wide net, Nunes wants to bring in a higher quality of player.
The 39-year-old wants a relatively small squad of 26 outfield players and four goalkeepers to work with, which means the São Paulo giants have work to do to trim their squad.
