Inter star Marcus Thuram netted his first Serie A hat-trick, his second in the top five European leagues, becoming the first Inter player to score two headed goals in the same Serie A match since Mauro Icardi in 2017.
Thuram’s hat-trick inspired Inter’s 3-2 win over Torino last night, helping the Nerazzurri climb to the second placement in Serie A, although Juventus have a game in hand.
As reported by Opta on X, formerly Twitter, it was Thuram’s second hat-trick in the top five European leagues. The France international had previously netted three goals for Borussia Mönchengladbach in a game against Oberachern in the German DFB Pokal in 2022.
Two of Thuram’s three goals against Torino were scored with a header, and this is also a milestone for the 27-year-old because the only Inter player to do the same in the past was Icardi in November 2017 against Atalanta.
Thuram is the Serie A’s leading scorer this season, alongside Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui, who also scored a hat-trick on Saturday.
