Poor pressing Manchester United are seemingly incapable of structuring a stable press well enough to disrupt the opponent. Leicester were comfortable with the ball and United’s one-man press did more harm than good.
Against the better sides, a good press is fundamental and United have failed to integrate one into their game for quite some time now – it’s not sustainable.
Midfield worries rumble on The decision to not sign a midfielder over the summer is coming back to haunt Manchester United. The lack of intensity from United’s midfield pair is alarming and the ease with which Leicester ran around them was down to Solskjaer’s coaching.
Once again, there is no cohesion in possession and Paul Pogba’s lazy backtracking for Leicester’s third goal is a sackable offence. Fred is often the subject of criticism but the Brazil international offers grit, something United lacked on Saturday.
Marcus Rashford – oh how we’ve missed you The 23-year-old is one of Manchester United’s most important players and his return from injury will ease the pressure on Solskjaer. Rashford scored his first goal of the season on his return in trademark Rashford fashion.
He latched onto a pass from Lindelof and made no mistake with only Schmeichel to beat, the type of goal the side has been lacking in his absence.
