Newcastle hosting Manchester City was always going to be one of the highlights of this Premier League weekend.
But no one could have foreseen three stunning strikes in the first half alone at St James’ Park on Saturday.
First, Bernardo Silva put the reigning champions ahead with a deft back-heeled finish midway through from Kyle Walker’s cross on the righthand side.
Eddie Howe’s side, however, struck back just 10 minutes later as Alexander Isak produced a curling effort inside the penalty area to restore parity.
And no sooner had the Magpies levelled that they were ahead courtesy of Anthony Gordon’s jinking run and near carbon copy finish past Stefan Ortega.
City’s follow-up strikes in the second half from a returning Kevin de Bruyne and Oscar Bobb were also something special as the visitors took maximum points.
A truly box-office encounter on Tyneside!
