Bolognaās incredible season continues after knocking back-to-back holders Inter out of the Coppa Italia in the Round of 16.
Scorers: Agusto 92ā²; Beukema 112ā², Ndoye 16ā²
It was a tense affair inside San Siro as two Serie A heavyweights tussled for survival in Italyās cup competition.
Inter largely dominated the match with a staggering 21 shots to seven, but Bologna once again proved they are true challengers this season.
Lautaro Martinez had a chance to be the hero for the hosts, but a diving save from goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia denied the Inter star from the penalty spot.
Nothing could separate the two sides for over 90 minutes, and the match continued into extra time. Inter then grabbed the lead within a flash as Carlos Augusto found the back of the net with a thumping header off the ground.
Then Bologna did the unthinkable. Sam Beukema volleyed home the equaliser and Dan Ndoye was played through by Joshua Zirzkee four minutes later and squeezed home the winner.
The goals were scored within a span of four minutes as the holders crashed out in their tournament opener.
It goes down as Interās first loss since September, meanwhile, Bologna have only one loss in their last 17 games across all competitions.
