Some key faces returned to action at Feyenoord’s packed 1908 complex, as goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, midfielder Chris-Kevin Nadjé and striker Julián Carranza appeared on the training field again with Robin van Persie’s team.
For Chris-Kevin Nadjé it meant his first training minutes since his injury sustained after the away match against Bayern Munich in the group stage of the Champions League in January. The expectation is that Nadje will not play for Feyenoord again this season, but fully focus on the preparation for the new campaign. He was ultimately only on the field for a short time.
Justin Bijlow was also back in the game. The goalkeeper last appeared between the sticks in the Champions League against Lille, also in January. Bijlow trained separately from the group without any visible limitations and looked sharp.
After an hour of training, the goalkeeper went in a little earlier. Defender Facundo Gonzalez, like Bijlow, trained separately from the group.
Julián Carranza also rejoined the group. The Argentinian striker has been missing for the past few weeks, after coach Robin van Persie indicated in the run-up to the match against PEC Zwolle at the end of April that Carranza “will be out for a while, but not for long.” It is not yet known whether Carranza will be in the match selection for the clash with PSV on Sunday.
The Rotterdammers will play their last match of the season on Sunday 18 May against sc Heerenveen, after playing their penultimate league match against RKC Waalwijk a few days earlier.
