It was a match that delivered what it promised as FC Bayern earned a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig on Saturday evening in an intense and entertaining encounter. The Munich side were 2-0 down at the break but showed a clear improvement in performance in the second half and took home a deserved point. "The mentality, the spirit, the speed of play, the willingness to take risks, the bite and the energy were much better in the second half," said coach Thomas Tuchel. "All in all, it's a fair sharing of the points," concluded Joshua Kimmich. fcbayern.com has all the reactions to the game.

Reaction to the match at Leipzig

Thomas Tuchel: "We showed pride and character. The mentality, the spirit, the speed of play, the willingness to take risks, the bite and the energy were much better in the second half. That's why we deserved the comeback. But in the first half we weren’t good. We started very well but then made many mistakes. Our game was too slow and too full of mistakes. Maybe it was due to the game plan going into the match, I'll take the blame for that. We conceded the goals through individual, sloppy defensive behaviour. The bite and the dedication were missing. That was better in the second half. It was also about pride and reacting to the score and showing character around that. The reaction was good, in the second half we played with simpler tactics. We had more energy and conviction in it."

Joshua Kimmich: "It was immensely important that we showed such a reaction. The first half didn't start that badly, we had a huge chance straight away. What annoys me is how we conceded the goals and let Leipzig into the game. We conceded the goals after a throw-in and a corner. In the first half, we couldn't pull it together. After the break it was better. We wanted to turn the game around. All in all, it's a fair sharing of the points. After the second half, the positives outweighed the negatives. But it’s difficult to explain why we played as we did in the first halt. In the second half, we showed that we were capable of dominating Leipzig."

Jamal Musiala: "In the first half we made it difficult for ourselves, we didn't have any rhythm, didn't build up our attacks well, lost possession too many times and didn't tackle well. In the second half we showed a top reaction. We played far better. We were more focused and tackled with more conviction, the intensity was also better. When we have fresh players coming off the bench, they always bring good energy that pushes us. We have so much quality on the bench that can help us."

Reaction from the RB Leipzig camp

Marco Rose (head coach): "I’m going home with a good feeling. The boys left everything on the pitch. It was a great game, very dynamic and with high tempo. It went one way then the other. In the end, it’s a fair sharing of the points. We had the better chances to score and didn't allow the opposition too many. The boys are doing well, even though we had to suffer a lot today. We showed again that we are a force to be reckoned with."

Yussuf Poulsen: "We had the game well under control, had Bayern where we wanted them. We played a bit deeper and wanted to focus on counter-attacks and switching back to defence. We conceded an unfortunate penalty. Then Bayern got more into the swing of things. But they didn't have too many chances."
