Thomas Tuchel has called for his Bayern Munich players to show a reaction against Manchester United following their heavy 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.
“We underestimated the danger of the situation and completely gave the game away very early on,” said Tuchel. “But I have confidence in my team.
“There’s no point in badmouthing everything now. It continues on Tuesday [at] Old Trafford. We need a reaction there.”
Eintracht Frankfurt scored five goals in the first 60 minutes, and were the last to do so against Bayern Munich in a Bundesliga game back in 1975. SGE’s win against Bayern also ends their run of five games across all competitions without a win.
But for Bayern Munich, it’s work to be done. Although second, the Rekordmeister could find themselves six points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, should Xabi Alonso’s side beat high-flying Stuttgart on Sunday afternoon.
And while already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages, Tuchel expects a response against Manchester United on Tuesday. Top of Group A on 13 points and ahead of both Copenhagen and Galatasaray (5 points), Bayern will look to maintain their unbeaten record in this season’s competition.
