Chelsea’s win against Tottenham last night came at a loss, two more injury concerns to contend with.

In a period where Chelsea are being smacked by injuries and Covid-19 cases, the last thing they needed was any more injuries to key players, and that’s what they got last night as Kai Havertz left the field at half time to be replaced by Timo Werner, and then Cesar Azpilicueta had to leave the field late on to be replaced by youngster Harvey Vale.

Havertz appeared to do some damage to his finger, and at one point it looked like the captain was holding his hamstring and we all feared the worse.

Luckily though, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Azpilicueta was just suffering with some cramp and was bought off as a precaution.

But Havertz was not so lucky and has appeared to suffer a break to his finger.

“I’m very worried by the injuries,” Tuchel said after the game as reported by the Chelsea website.

“But Azpi says his was only cramp and not an injury, which would be the good news. We trust him from here so hopefully it is only cramp.

“Kai has a problem with his finger, I think he broke his finger. It was horrible and he played through the pain, but the pain was getting bigger and bigger with every movement, with every touch from the opponent. He survived until half-time and then we needed to change.”
