Armando Broja is a Chelsea striker on loan at Southampton, where he’s made a really bright start to life in the Premier League.

The contrast with Romelu Lukaku’s struggles at Chelsea means that Broja’s success is going to become more and more topical, and today we saw his name mentioned in Thomas Tuchel’s press conference.

Tuchel was straight away trying to keep the youngster’s feet on the ground. Rather than praise him he pointed out it was just a 6 month spell, and there was still a long way to go. But he did also talk about some of the aspects of Broja’s game he likes, calling him a “unique” striker.

“Armando is getting better and better. He is a unique player with unique strengths: strong and robust and a goalscorer. Now is not the time to talk about summer. He has to stay calm and keep on improving,” Tuchel said in quotes picked up by Football.London.

It’s so refreshing to hear a manager speak openly about our players on loan and how they’re getting on. Plenty of managers we’ve had in the past would have just brushed the question off and moved on.
