Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has given a positive update on Manuel Neuer’s fitness after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Neuer has been out for almost the entirety of 2023 after a skiing accident over the Christmas break in 2022.
But Tuchel has revealed that the goalkeeper is now training fully with his team mates and could be back playing soon.
“It’s great news,” Tuchel said in a press conference.
“He completed parts of team training. It’s another step in the right direction. As soon as he’s back to full team training, things can progress quite quickly, but he’s still a bit away from that.”
Tuchel was less positive about Serge Gnabry though, with the forward having broken his forearm in Bayern’s DFB Pokal win in midweek.
“Normally, you’d expect him to be out for four to six weeks. But, that’s dependant on a number of factors.
“He will be able to train individually and keep up his fitness levels that way. We’ll then have to look and see when he’ll be able to start playing again with a brace. The fact remains that it’s a big loss for us.”
Bayern will travel to RB Leipzig on Saturday with Harry Kane hoping to continue his fine start to life in the Bundesliga.
