Germany captain Thomas Muller has urged his side to mimic Real Madrid when they play at the World Cup in November, describing the European champions as 'an example' to follow.

Carlo Ancelotti's side defied expectations at every turn and their feats seem to have inspired Bayern Munich star Muller, who was vocal in his admiration for the club following Germany's 3-3 Nations League draw with England.

“Maybe Real Madrid are an example to us. I’ve played for a lot of coaches, including Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the most trophies," Muller told DW Sports after the match at Wembley.

"After things that don’t go well, it’s all about getting back up and keeping your confidence. We’d do well to follow that."
