FC Bayern won an intense, action-packed game in Wolfsburg 4-2 on Sunday. Bayern led 3-0 after 19 minutes, but had to withstand a Wolfsburg fightback following Joshua Kimmich's second-half sending off. "It was important to dig in and fight, we managed to do that," enthused Julian Nagelsmann. "We can go home happy, we're back on top of the table and looking ahead to the interesting weeks ahead," said Thomas Müller after marking his record-equalling Bundesliga appearance with Bayern's third goal. fcbayern.com rounds up the reaction...

Reaction to the Wolfsburg game

Julian Nagelsmann: "It's the win that matters most, it was very important. With three points in the bag, we can look forward. We were really efficient in the first half. At 3-0 we got a bit sloppy, but we showed another side of our game after the sending off. Of course, our style of play was different after that. It was important to dig in and fight, and we managed to do that. We're back on track but we're never satisfied. We always want something to strive for. Given the nature of the game, it was a very important win."

Thomas Müller: "It was a workmanlike win in the end. We invested a lot, you could see how hungry we were for the win. We made a great start but then it became hard work. Conceding before the break changes things altogether. Obviously the sending off didn't help, but the goal for 4-1 was extremely important. In the end, I think we fully deserved the win. We can go home happy, we're back on top of the table and looking ahead to the interesting weeks ahead."

Joshua Kimmich: "At the end of the day, we have to focus on the sporting side of things - that's what we did today and we won. Man marking has become the norm in recent games, so I have to come up with other ideas. Often the defence bypasses me, so I'm coming at the ball from behind. You have fewer opportunities to drive the game forward when that happens. For the first yellow card, I allowed myself to get carried away and be provoked. I don't think I pulled his jersey or arm for the second booking - it was soft. At that point, I was already focused on not making another foul."

Reaction from the Wolfsburg camp

Marcel Schäfer (Wolfsburg managing director for sport): "We started well, but didn't make use of the turnovers. Bayern were ice-cold after that. It felt like they scored three goals from three shots, but the team never gave up. We kept coming back. We know we can't match them on the pitch. They're a top, top side, so we had to get physical - but we shouldn't have conceded a fourth goal."

Niko Kovač (Wolfsburg head coach): "The bottom line is we were very unfortunate to lose. The result isn't a reflection of our performance. Bayern have the individual quality to win these kind of games. We left a fair bit to be desired, but I'm happy with the way we played. We were brave and courageous."

Maximilian Arnold (Wolfsburg captain): "The performance doesn't feel like its reflected in the result. It's hard to put into words. They gave us a lesson in scoring goals. You put in so much effort, only to fall 4-1 behind after switching off. That said, I'm impressed with the morale we showed. We didn't deserve to lose today."
