Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller sent a message of congratulations the way of Barcelona, on the back of their downing of he and his teammates on Wednesday night.
Bayern of course made the trip to Catalunya’s capital yesterday evening, for a highly-anticipated Champions League showdown between two of the continent’s leading clubs.
When all was said and done, however, a sizable gap was apparent between the sides.
This came as Barcelona ran riot to the tune of a 4-1 triumph, inspired by hat-trick hero and Man of the Match Raphinha.
The visitors’ stars looked nothing short of shell-shocked following the full-time whistle at Montjuïc, evidently not prepared for the level of performance awaiting them on the night.
As alluded to above, though, one Bayern Munich star who managed to put as much to one side, at least momentarily, was Thomas Müller.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s concerning defeat, frontman Müller showed his sportsmanship, in explaining:
“A well deserved win for Barcelona. Congratulations to them. I’m happy for [former Bayern boss] Flick, but not for us.”
