Thomas Müller felt that Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach on the opening night of this year’s Bundesliga was a fair result on balance.
Alassane Pléa gave the hosts an early lead at Borussia-Park on Friday, but Robert Lewandowski hit back for the Bavarians just before the break.
Both sides had chances to add to their tally after the interval but some great saves by Gladbach keeper Jan Sommer and his counterpart Manuel Neuer ensured the points were shared.
“We could have taken more from the game. But Gladbach could have also scored another goal,” Bayern striker Müller told club media.
“Unfortunately, we failed to make the most of our good phases. We had the game under control and played good football.
“At the back, we lost a bit of structure, it went a bit back and forth.
“We have some things we still have to improve, we will work on that before Tuesday.”
The game the Germany international was referring to is the DFL Supercup against Borussia Dortmund, where Bayern will be looking to lift the trophy for the ninth consecutive year.
