The Germany international was sent off in their final group game against Ajax in December for a high foot challenge on Nicolás Tagliafico.
But only now Uefa have confirmed that the forward will be unavailable for the matches with Jürgen Klopp’s men after receiving a two-game ban.
An update in the Disciplinary section of the Uefa website read on Friday:
“Charges against Bayern Munich. Thomas Müller – direct red card. Decision: to suspend the player for two Uefa competition matches for which he would otherwise be eligible.”
The first leg takes place at Anfield on February 19, with the return fixture at Allianz Arena on March 13.
