Thomas Müller has revealed he will not be retiring from international football despite claims to the contrary after Germany’s World Cup exit.

Germany were one of the big disappointments in Qatar as they crashed out of the 2022 tournament at the group stage for a second successive time.

Müller played a part in all three games and after their exit had intimated that he may hang up his international boots.

However speaking on Monday at a press conference in Doha during Bayern’s winter training camp, the veteran forward has claimed he will make himself available for selection ahead of a home European Championships in 2024.

“I was emotional after the game, it was a sad moment,”he told reporters.

“I thought about it and exchanged ideas with Hansi Flick. As long as I’m a professional footballer, I’ll always be available for the national team.

“The coach has to decide when, if and how. The goal is to be successful again. Hansi has many options in attack. I’m very relaxed, but will absolutely be there when the coach needs me.”

Müller will now concentrate in his club demands with Bayern returning to Bundesliga action on Friday January 20 against RB Leipzig.
