Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The age old argument.
You can’t mention one without the other, and if there is silverware, an individual award or a new record being set – these two won’t be far from the action.
But for the first time since 2004/05, neither Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi will make an appearance in the Champions League semi-finals.
We definitely take their superhuman consistency for granted.
But as both players head into the September of their careers, are we slowly facing the harsh reality of time? Or was this just a freak occasion?
Either way, this is a huge shock and does it potentially pave way for another player to stake his claim?
We prefer not to speak. Robert Lewandowski, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé might not share that sentiment.
