Alexander-Arnold's arrival could seal Carvajal's fate

The Spanish defender has one year left on his contract with Real Madrid. Yet, the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer could speed his exit.

In a recent interview ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, Carvajal discussed his future.

"Yes, it's clear. I've already said in an interview that the day I'm no longer at Real Madrid, or the day we decide together not to continue, I'd like to try a different league outside of Europe, and MLS is one of the options," Carvajal told FIFA.com, according to bolavip.com.

Last October, the six-time Champions League winner suffered a torn ACL, torn LCL, and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg. He's now recovering.

After 10 years, Real Madrid finally has real competition at right-back, with a new manager Xabi Alonso now in charge. Dani Carvajal may reasonably assume his playing time will decrease.
