Often when you concede a goal, you only have yourself to blame and that was never more true than in Croatia over the weekend.

A truly incredible video has surfaced of a game being turned in an instant – after a team mistakenly believed they had scored.

The guilty party were Slaven Belupo, who began celebrating after an odd optical illusion had their players thinking they had found the net.

In reality, the ball had came back off the post and opponents Hajduk Split countered in devastating fashion.

With the Belupo goalkeeper running towards his dugout to celebrate with the bench, Hajduk broke up the park and scored the simplest of goals.

Even after repeated viewings, we can see why Belupo were confused to be fair.

But it doesn’t make it any less embarrassing!
