In a recent report, Catalan news outlet Esport3 claimed that Elche striker Lucas Boye is on Barcelona’s radar. It is understood that the Catalan outfit are hoping to strengthen their squad by recruiting the Argentine forward.

Boye’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season

Boye has enjoyed a decent season in Spanish football so far as he has managed to perform at a high level while acting as the focal point of Elche’s attack. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net on six occasions and secured one assist in 16 matches for the Spanish outfit during this campaign across various competitions.

The San Gregorio-born talent has been a consistent performer at the Estadio Martínez Valero based on his average of 1.3 tackles, 1.0 clearances, 2.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game in La Liga.

However, he needs to improve his accuracy when distributing the ball in the final third after making 73.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

What Will Boye Add To Barcelona Boss Xavi’s Team?

Boye is a physically strong forward who can use his strength to cause a few problems for the opposition defenders. He excels at getting some shots in at goal and can make a few clever runs with the ball in the opposition half. The Argentine sensation has proven himself to be a composed presence in front of the opponent’s goal and doesn’t mind working hard for his team off the ball.

Boye will definitely strengthen Xavi‘s attacking options at the Nou Camp and has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot in Barca’s first XI. At 25, the South American attacker is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent option for the Spanish side to pursue before the end of this month.

The Elche star will add some firepower to Barcelona‘s attack and could help the Catalan outfit maintain their push for a top-four spot in La Liga this season. Hence, Xavi should consider orchestrating a move to acquire the services of Boye during this winter transfer period as long as Barca can get him for a fair price.
