Harry Kane can demolish Jimmy Greaves’ Tottenham scoring record if he remains at the club — and Alan Shearer’s Premier League record could be next.

That is according to 79-time Spurs striker Darren Bent, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge as Kane entered informal contract negotiations with Spurs, as per the Independent.

Kane scored his 206th Spurs goal against Fulham on Wednesday evening, a magnificent diving header.

That was his 22nd goal involvement of the season (11 goals, 11 assists) and the striker will have Thiery Henry’s record of 44 involvements in a single season in the crosshairs.

And Bent believes that if Kane commits his long-term future to the club, records will continue to tumble.

He told Football Insider: “I think with Harry Kane, he’s got records in sight. I think if he stays at Tottenham he’ll pass Jimmy Greaves. I think he’ll beat that record.

“But I think the one he’ll really want is the Shearer record. He’s still 100 or so goals behind but if he stays at Tottenham his whole career, he’ll go past that one too.

“He’s got accolades and things he wants to win with Spurs, but he’s also got individual records to chase down.

“When you look at Greaves and Shearer, you once thought that no one’s gonna get anywhere near these records.

“But the fact that this guy’s in the conversation, I think there’s a genuine chance that he’ll do it.”

With 154 Premier League goals and 206 Tottenham strikes in total, Kane is 60 goals shy Jimmy Greaves’ club record and 106 behind Shearer’s Premier League record.

He is also 6th on England’s goalscoring charts with 32 goals and will be confident of surpassing Wayne Rooney, 53 goals, over the next few years.
