Arsenal midfielder Lia Wälti will not be in action for Switzerland on Friday with the player currently nursing a muscle strain in her right thigh.

The Swiss are set to face Germany in an international friendly in Erfurt as part of their preparations for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

The Swiss Football Association provided a squad update via their official website earlier today confirming that captain Wälti has left camp due to a muscle strain. The Arsenal midfielder will not travel with the Swiss squad to Germany on Friday and she will remain in her homeland in a bid to complete a swift recovery. With the start of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 now just a fortnight away, the Swiss medical staff are taking no risks with the fitness of their leader, although Wälti should return to camp next week.
