Former France and Barcelona star Thierry Henry believes Lionel Messi has a problem at PSG.

Messi is now playing regularly for the French side having missed the early stages of the campaign through injury following his free transfer from Barcelona.

But while he has scored three times in his first seven games, it hasn’t all gone smoothly for the Argentine.

The dangerous-looking trio of Mbappe, Neymar and Messi is not functioning as perfectly as many thought it would, something that was clear in PSG‘s goalless draw with Marseille last time out.

During that draw, Di Maria played as part of the front three with Neymar in an attacking midfield role, but none of those attacking players could find a winning goal.

Such issues might be expected when a new player is added to the mix, these things take time, after all, but Henry believes the key is to play Messi in a more central role.

“Messi is isolated and isn’t touching the ball so much,” the Frenchman said, as cited by Marca. “I don’t say he is unhappy but he looks isolated.

“I prefer him in the middle. I don’t think he can make the difference from the right.

“In the middle, he can provide the rhythm. We have to find a solution for them (Messi, Mbappe and Neymar), they can play together.

“I don’t have the exact tactical data, but I think that he has less impact (out wide). He participates less often.”
