Karim Benzema once again showed why he is one of the best number nines in the world this week as he single-handedly sent PSG crashing out of the Champions league.

Coming into the second-leg clash a goal down, the onus was on Real Madrid to turn the tie around in front of their home fans.

That had begun to look rather unlikely, especially after Kylian Mbappe slammed home in the first half to double PSG’s overall lead.

However, Benzema came out for the second stanza like a man possessed, taking the game by the scruff of the neck and flipping it completely on its head.

His first goal set a cat among the Parisian pigeons before minutes later he levelled the tie, smashing home via a deflection after some fantastic build-up play from Vinicius Jr and Luka Modric.

The match then restarted and, within only 12 seconds, Madrid had scored again with Benzema scuttling a first time strike beautifully into the bottom corner.

Watching in the CBS studio, Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry were still in the process of discussing Benzema’s second strike when the third went in.

Their incredible reactions, thankfully, were caught on video and they are something special.

Brilliant – there is just so much going on in this clip that it’s difficult to keep track of it all.

From Henry’s high-pitched gasp when PSG cough up the ball to Carragher’s scream to Kate Abdo missing it all as she wrote some notes on the second goal.

Now, it goes without saying that this trio of broadcasters would have seen a lot in their time and so their stunned reactions just highlights how much of a crazy moment it was.

For PSG, its back to the European drawing board while Real, with Benzema in the lead, march on towards title number 14.
