As the kick-off between AC Milan and Inter in the Derby della Madonnina is approaching, Malick Thiaw spoke to the media as the representative of the Rossoneri. He stated that he and his teammates are ready.

Milan are desperate for a win after six games without one and Stefano Pioli’s position has been questioned by many in the buildup to this clash. The latter debate was fueled by his formation choices, dropping Rafael Leao for the big game.

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Thiaw briefly shared his thoughts on the clash. He stated that he and his teammates are ready to play a great game after a full week of preparation at Milanello.

“We’re ready, the group is focused on playing a great match. We hope it will be an excellent feeling. The group knows the meaning of the derby and we hope to do very well.

“The right opportunity to bounce back? Sure. We’re not in an easy moment. But it’s the best opportunity to play the derby to change our pace and state of affairs. What happened in Riyadh must not happen again,” he stated.

In spite of a three-man backline, Thiaw starts on the fence in favour of another youngster in Matteo Gabbia. He was, however, included in the Champions League squad and that is a sign that Pioli rates him.
