According to Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco sporting director and CEO Thiago Scuro has rejected the opportunity to take up a role with the Brazil national team.

Scuro was chosen as Paul Mitchell’s successor at Monaco in the summer and then in October, the Brazilian replaced Ben Lambrecht as CEO during a restructure of the Principality club. However, according to Romano, he has been offered the chance to leave Les Monégasques.

The Seleçao approached Scuro regarding the sporting director role. Whilst the Brazilian was honoured to have received the interest, he rejected the proposal, according to Romano. Scuro is fully focused on Monaco and wants to remain in Europe.

Scuro leading Monaco sale process

Whilst trying to guide Les Monegasques to a return to UEFA Champions League football, Scuro is also a key figure in the process of selling the Principality club. As reported by Get French Football News, ASM owner Dmitry Rybolovlev is exploring “strategic alternatives for its stake in the Club after receiving unsolicited inbound interest.”

“It doesn’t change our day-to-day or our objectives. We remain fully focused on the season, with the desire to get the best result, be that our objective to finish on the podium in the league and get back into the Champions League, or our desire to go as far as possible in the Coupe de France,” said Scuro, reacting to the reports of a prospective sale.
