Bologna head coach Thiago Motta has already been linked with the top jobs at his former clubs Inter and Paris Saint-Germain, but his former club are keen on extending his contract.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Rossoblu are keen to extend the 40-year-old’s deal past the end of June 2024 and build a longer-term project around him.

Motta has certainly been turning heads with the job that he has done since replacing Sinisa Mihajlovic as Bologna coach earlier this season.

The former Inter and PSG midfielder has turned the Emilians’ early-season form around completely and instituted an attractive and effective possession-based style of play to get the best out of the team’s squad.

This has led to more than just one or two suggestions that a bigger job may not be too far in the future for the former Italian international.

Given Motta’s links to Inter and PSG during his playing days, these have been the two strongest links for the future.

However, the Gazzetta report, Bologna are very keen to make sure that any move to either the Nerazzurri or to the Parisians will have to wait at least a little while longer on the horizon.

The Rossoblu, the newspaper reports, want to lock down their coach’s future past the end of June 2024 with a new contract.
