Thiago Almada has described himself as the "happiest kid in the world" after making his World Cup debut with Argentina.
The Atlanta United youngster replaced Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister in the 86th minute of La Albiceleste's crucial 2-0 victory over Poland on Wednesday that sealed their place in the knockout rounds.
Despite limited minutes, Almada - the most expensive incoming transfer in MLS history - was still able to make an impact, having 15 touches of the ball and completing all 13 of his passes while creating one big chance.
"I'm very happy for my World Cup debut. I'm the happiest kid in the world, like any other little child who dreams while having a ball in his feet", Almada reflected, adding on the rest of Argentina's World Cup campaign: "We talked internally that when we get hit hard we have to react and thankfully we got up quick. Now we need to keep going."
