Thiago Alcantara may have left his role as a coach for Barcelona earlier this month, but he’s still having an effect – or at least trying to – with a view to benefitting the club for this season.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Barcelona had submitted a loan offer for Stefan Bajcetic. The teenager would be replacing Marc Bernal in the first team, following confirmation that he ruptured his ACL and damaged his meniscus during the victory over Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday evening.
Bajcetic is set to leave Liverpool before Friday’s deadline, although even if the Premier League side accept Barcelona’s offer, there’s no guarantee that he joins. Bajcetic is also juggling a proposal from RB Salzburg.
There’s where Thiago comes in. ESPN say that he has spoken with Bajcetic, his former Liverpool teammate, in regards to Barcelona’s interest, and he is said to be pushing hard to convince the youngster to pick Catalonia over Salzburg.
It remains to be seen whether Thiago’s, and Barcelona’s, efforts are enough for a deal to be done. If so, Bajcetic is sure to be a fine addition to Hansi Flick’s squad.
