BBC football pundit Chris Sutton has stated his prediction for the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester United on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have been in superb form since the international break with three wins on the bounce. They have scored 13 goals, keeping one clean sheet.
Meanwhile, United have bagged two victories and one draw. They have scored eight goals under new manager Ruben Amorim with a solitary shut-out.
Ahead of tomorrow’s much-awaited encounter at the Emirates Stadium, Sutton has predicted the Gunners to come on top with a comfortable 3-1 victory.
The 51-year-old said that there is a lot of excitement about Amorim from Red Devils fans, but he will face a ‘real acid test’ against the London giants.
Sutton added that he does not see United getting anything out of the game. Arsenal ‘will win and win well’ as per the former Blackburn Rovers striker.
He told BBC Sport: “I can understand the excitement about Ruben Amorim from Manchester United fans because he is a hugely charismatic guy who comes across so well in interviews.
“I am pleased for him that he has got off to a decent start, because he is unbeaten after his first three games, but this is the real acid test that will demonstrate where United are at.
“We have seen some classic games between these teams down the years, but Arsenal are a long way ahead of United, especially now Odegaard is back – he has taken them to the levels we were expecting from them all season.
“It would be a real eye-opener if United go to Emirates Stadium and get something, but I can’t see it.
“Arsenal have scored a lot of goals in the past week and that should continue here. They will win, and win well.”
Arsenal did the league double over United last season. They secured a hard-fought 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium with two goals in stoppage time.
They beat United by a 1-0 scoreline at Old Trafford in the penultimate league game of the campaign, but were unable to leapfrog Manchester City to the title.
Mikel Arteta’s side find themselves in a must-situation again. They are second in the table, but are already nine points adrift of runaway leaders Liverpool.
A setback on Wednesday would be a massive blow for the Gunners. They can send a big statement in the title race with a solid victory over United at home.
