“They were going down easily” – Andy Robertson responds to Rodri’s rant about Scotland’s style of play | OneFootball

Spain fell to defeat for the first time under Luis de la Fuente on Tuesday, as a Scott McTominay double gave Scotland a famous victory at Hampden Park.

The match was a learning curve for La Roja, with de la Fuente insisting that his side have a long way to go to reach their best level.

Two of his players bemoaned different circumstances surrounding their defeat, with David Garcia focusing on the condition of the pitch, while Rodri Hernandez took shots at Scotland’s style of play, which he claimed was “not football”.

Scotland captain Andy Robertson responded to Rodri’s comments, in which he stated his believe that his side won the psychological battle against Spain, as per Liverpool Echo.

“They were going down a little bit easily. We were always going to be physical. We wanted to win our challenges – we did that, and I don’t think we crossed a line. We got under their skin a bit. It was an all-round top performance.”

There will surely be a little bit of needle between the sides when they meet in October for the return fixture in the Euro 2024 qualifying stage. Spain will be out for revenge, but as Tuesday night showed, it won’t be easy.
