How do you even begin to replace a player like Cristiano Ronaldo?
The simple answer is: you don’t. What other superhuman can score 451 goals in 438 games?
But even with Vinícius Júnior, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard at the club – his absence is being felt harder than ever.
Between 2009 and 2018, the Spanish club played 519 games and scored in all but 46 of them – failing to find the net in just 8.86% of matches.
Yet since Ronaldo left for Juventus, Madrid have played 71 times and failed to score in 17 – which is 23.94% of their matches.

Has three been a coaching issue? After appointing three permanent managers in 18 months, that story stands up.
Are players underperforming? Aside from Benzema and Sergio Ramos, few players in this side contribute regularly.
Either way, it’s back to the drawing board for Los Blancos who somehow need to fill this Ronaldo-shaped hole.
