The Newcastle United players have started arriving back at the club’s training ground.

Five weeks on Saturday it is Southampton at St James’ Park as NUFC kicks off their competitive season.

The Newcastle United players having a staggered return, with on Thursday making public that the pre-season process had started.

Those who have been on international duty this summer will be the final ones to return.

The club have now published a pre-season photo gallery of Newcastle United players at the training ground, along with this text:

‘Newcastle United have wasted no time with their preparations for the 2024/25 Premier League season, with a number of first team players hard at work at the club’s Benton training centre on Thursday.

Familiar faces including Joelinton, Joe Willock and Sandro Tonali were joined in the gym by the Magpies’ other squad members who aren’t currently on international duty, with new boys Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy also getting used to their new surroundings as testing was carried out, with the new term fast approaching.

Serena Taylor and Harriet Massey were there to capture these images for this newcastleunited.com gallery as United – in their new adidas training wear – got the ball rolling at this early stage of pre-season.’

The club captain of course is still recovering from that big operation and won’t be available until a number of months into the season, however, clearly keen to speed up that process as much as possible.
