Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has declared that there will be war in Barcelona during the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against the Blaugrana.

PSG succumbed to a 2-3 defeat as Barcelona proved to be too hot to handle. Despite the fact that the French team, playing at home, were branded as favourites, Xavi’s tactical switch caught PSG by surprise.

Speaking after the defeat, Enrique said that it was obvious for Xavi to use the long-ball tactic mostly because Marc-Andre ter Stegen was on goal and upfront, Robert Lewandowski was waiting.

“I wasn’t surprised at all by Xavi’s plan, clearly. Long balls to counter our press, especially when your goalkeeper is Ter Stegen and your striker is Lewandowski,” he was quoted by MARCA.

Enrique stood before the press, his expression serious and visibly angry. However, he maintained composure, offering congratulations to the Barça team.

He also issued a warning, expressing his hope to reverse the outcome in the second leg at the Estadi Olimpic de Montjuic.

“I understand if people want to come here and destroy everything, but that’s not the case for me. There will be war in Barcelona,” he said.

“The second leg will be a final. We will go to Barcelona and fight, be confident in my team.”

The PSG manager went on to add that he never questioned Barcelona’s quality. In fact, he has been pressing for a week that one cannot overlook the players Barcelona have.

“At this level, look at the Barcelona players individually. I have been saying this for weeks now. Like our players, their players also have a very high level.”

At the same time, though, he mentioned that his team will do everything in its power to mark a comeback in the second leg.

“I don’t have any doubts on our ability to come back in the second leg. We play the same way away from home as we do at home.”

“I want to congratulate Barcelona on the match they played. We could have achieved a different result, but now we’re thinking of coming back in the second leg,” he said.
