The Spanish press continues to report that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé will not continue his tenure with the capital club and link the 22-year-old to Real Madrid, whether the move occurs this summer or next.

Losing Mbappé is a scary thought for those who support Les Parisiens; however, the club is building a squad that can compete for the UEFA Champions League year in and year out. The French giants are in hot pursuit of Manchester United Paul Pogba.

It’s PSG’s ambition that sees one RTL journalist not afraid of the Ligue 1 side losing its star forward. David Aiello made an appearance on L’Equipe du Soir (via Canal Supporters), where he discussed the possibility of PSG having to face life without Mbappé.

“Today, we don’t have the answer; we don’t know if it’s going to happen. The question is whether a departure from Mbappé would be detrimental to PSG. With the recruitment completed, the workforce is already much more balanced. As much as last year, we could have feared there. I have the impression that PSG can afford it. Neymar has extended, and I remain convinced that the key player is him,” Aiello said.

“If the club wants to grow, it is also necessary that no player is considered irreplaceable. Mbappé is a world top five, we all agree. But there should be no fear. PSG has strengthened. Then, at some point, if players want to leave, you have to stop trying to hold them back at all costs. There should be no fear. In the PSG project, the club must at one point position itself above the players.”

Mbappé has one more year left on his contract, and the capital club continues to have extension talks with the 22-year-old and his representatives. With Real Madrid lurking, there needs to be a conclusion this summer.
