Norwich City are slowly building a very decent season, and although they are still suffering with some inconsistencies, they look to be yet another team in the fight for the play-offs.

The Canaries are currently two points outside the Championship top six in seventh place, and will be hoping that victory over Middlesbrough on Sunday will take them into the play-off places.

For that to happen, they will need the league's top scorer, Borja Sainz, to continue to perform at the level that he has done so far, and Johannes Hoff Thorup will be hoping that his attacker can add to his eight goals and two assists at Carrow Road this weekend.

However, with the January transfer window a little over two months away, there will be fears surrounding the 23-year-old's future at Norwich, as bids could come in from both the Premier League and abroad.

Sainz's potential transfer fee named

At such a young age, it is highly likely that clubs will be circling in the future, as Sainz seems destined to make his way to the top flight of football in either England or once again in his native Spain.

A technical, quick player, off the left-wing, there are not many better than the Spaniard in the Championship and his hat-trick against Derby County earlier in the season, while controversial, proved just how much of a talent he is.

It is that talent that has led Football League World to ask their Norwich Fan Pundit, Zeke Downes, how much he believes the winger is worth.

He explained to FLW: "We can't really afford to accept anything for Borja Sainz, purely because he's the only winger right now who's contributing anything in terms of goals and assists.

"Obviously, there's a number that we probably would have to accept, but it's a big risk because if you lose him, you're then relying on Sargent and, yes, we've relied on him before, but it's a lot of pressure on one guy, especially if he gets an injury."

"I think offers will come in, especially from Spain, but there's no way that we can let them leave."

Josh Sargent could be left vulnerable if Sainz is sold

Selling Sainz is possibly one of the worst situations that Norwich could find themselves, not only as they will lose his goals and chance creating qualities, but also as it could nullify Josh Sargent's ability to find the back of the net.

The two have found a perfect balance through their varying styles of play, and the American has been excellent at setting up goals for his teammate, assisting him three times already this season, and there will be fears that this part of his game could be stopped by the Spaniard leaving.

It's incredibly important that Sainz is held on to, at least until the summer, when Norwich will have more time to find a replacement, rather than in January, as there is hardly any time to bring in a player that could replicate the 23-year-old's quality.

Nevertheless, as Zeke told FLW, a bid of £15m+ could see the Canaries make the decision to take the money, but it seems unlikely that a club would pay that for a player who has only just started to show what he can do in the Championship this season.
