There have been no indications that Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak will agitate to move on at the end of the 2024-25 season, according to The Athletic journalist Chris Waugh.

The Sweden international is on the radar of Arsenal and a couple of other suitors in the Premier League and across Europe, but the Toons want to hold on to him beyond the summer transfer window even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Newcastle are currently seventh in the table after 25 games, three points off the top-four, and securing a spot in the elite European competition is still very much feasible.

Isak wants to be playing in the Champions League regularly,  and Newcastle qualifying for it again will increase their prospects of retaining his services going forward.

However, the potential fee the Magpies would demand for him is likely to be partly dictated by whether he pushes to leave should they miss out on the competition.

If that happens and his suitors cannot meet Newcastle’s asking price, a compromise may have to be reached.

If he does not look to move on, Newcastle will have a healthy enough PSR standing to decline any offers beyond the £100 million they are expected to demand.

The 25-year-old has 17 goals and five assists in 23 Premier League games so far this term and could end up bagging more than 25 goals if he keeps up his current form.

Magpies manager Eddie Howe is not keen on losing such a player anytime soon, but for that to happen, the club have to match his ambitions and make quality recruitment in the summer after going three transfer windows without a signing who has significantly improved the starting XI.
