Spurs have also triggered the £60m release clause in the contract of Nottingham Forest star Gibbs-White and had planned for him to have his medical today before completing the deal.

However, the deal is being held up after Forest accused Tottenham of illegally approaching the England international. This will not stop Tottenham from bolstering their squad this summer.

“There are more signings to come in the words of one-placed figure,” Delaney wrote.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy seems to be backing new manager Thomas Frank as he prepares to guide the team into a new era/

The new Tottenham boss will be desperate to hit the ground running when the season starts, and a squad capable of challenging strongly across all competitions is being assembled for him.

Having conceded 65 goals in the Premier League last season, Tottenham will also need to strengthen their defence.

Only the relegated clubs and 16th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers shipped more than them last season.
