Milan struggled to break through the defense of Venezia, but once Theo Hernández came off the bench last night, things were easier for Stefano Pioli.

Theo assisted Brahim Díaz’s opener (68′), before finding the back of the net himself, finishing off an excellent Alexis Saelemaekers assist, celebrating by dancing on the pitch with Brahim.

“The goal, the assist or the dance with Brahim? All three are beautiful! The most enjoyable part was the dance,” the Frenchman told DAZN. “He said in the locker room that he wanted to do this dance when he scored a goal, so I got a goal and assist, we did it together. Bennacer’s pass is as good as a goal, it was a wonderful ball.”

On the match: “We know Venezia are difficult to face, the coach made three changes that completely transformed the game. We have to win these games, all of them and none are easy. Also on Saturday we have to win.”

On the objectives: “A place in the Champions League? No, something more. We have to play to win the Scudetto.”

Speaking to Sky Italia, Theo said: “We knew that it was an important match and that against Venezia it wouldn’t be easy, we came off a series of very tough matches. The Coach gave me some rest and I went it trying to do my best.”

On if there’s more confidence: “Yes, we work every day to improve. It’s a season in which we find ourselves better.”

On if the Scudetto is the objective: “Yes, let’s go to fight to win the Scudetto!”
