Things are moving quickly in terms of transfers for Chelsea.
Liam Delap is signed up and could be announced as soon as today. That’s the biggest position of need sorted, as we add a really good option to compete with Nicolas Jackson up front.
There’s also a lot of action in our hunt for a new left winger. Jamie Gittens is being mentioned a lot, and Nico Williams has been touted today too.
In terms of a central defender, we’ve missed out on Dean Huijsen, who has inevitably chosen Real Madrid over us. That’s a blow, but there’s already plenty of alternatives lined up. Marc Guehi seems a top choice, and today there’s even been talk of a major bid for Jarrad Branthwaite.
All in all, across the board, things look to be moving forward quickly with a view to getting our business done for

All of that is well and good, but it is conspicuously quiet on one front – what are we doing in goal?
To his credit, Robert Sanchez had a solid end to the season, and played some clean games when we needed them most. But we can’t let that brief period fool us into thinking that a major upgrade in goal would hugely improve this team.
In fact, it’s perhaps the most critical pillar of all in terms of adding solidity to the spine of this talented but sometimes flighty group.
So far, we’re not hearing anything. That could mean that moves are just being kept quiet, or it could signal that the plan is to bring Djordje Petrovic back from loan at Strasbourg and have him compete with Sanchez at Stamford Bridge, rather than signing a whole new player.
