Operating as an attacking midfielder and on the left-hand side throughout the month, Anderson began by setting up his side's equaliser in a 2-1 win over Bradford City and he was on the scoresheet himself the following week as the Gas drew 1-1 with Tranmere Rovers.

This kicked off a three-game scoring streak, with the 19-year-old earning Rovers three points against Salford City before netting in their 3-1 win against high-flying Port Vale.

A 0-0 draw with champions Forest Green followed and he capped off April by bagging in a dramatic 4-3 victory over Rochdale.

His form helped Rovers stay in contention for promotion and they remarkably secured third spot with a 7-0 victory over a much-weakened Scunthorpe United on the final day.

Anderson won the award comfortably, receiving a whopping 41% of the vote. His closest challengers were Swindon Town's Jack Payne (16%), Mansfield Town's Stephen McLaughlin (13%) and Northampton Town's Sam Hoskins (12%).
