With the new decade approaching, Tottenham Hotspur sought to get their fans involved in voting for their team of the decade.
English trio Jermaine Defoe, Harry Kane and Peter Crouch nominated for the striker of the decade, the Spurs poll received an overwhelming response with more than 500,000 votes.
Little did they know that the majority would be Liverpool fans who hijacked the poll to vote for ex-Reds striker Peter Crouch.
It didn’t take long for Arsenal fans to jump into the fray and form an unlikely alliance with Liverpool fans to prevent Kane from winning the vote.
At the time of writing, Crouch has secured 61% of the votes, maintaining a healthy lead over Kane who has only 33%. With just 5 hours of voting left, the result is unlikely to change.
Harry Kane has been one of the best strikers in the Premier League this decade and undoubtedly the best Spurs striker. To see him lose out to Crouch who left the club in 2011 is nothing short of amusing.
This is banter of the highest order with Reds fans having a laugh, although it is likely that a majority of the Spurs fans will be left offended.
Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react to this amusing incident.
