The UAX Rafa Nadal School of Sport and LALIGA have jointly developed a Degree in Sports Management for the 2024/2025 academic year. The course, which will be taught at the new UAX Chamberí urban campus, will have 60 places available, is based on ADE studies and has been adapted to meet the updated needs demanded by the sports industry. Additionally, students who study the Degree will be able to carry out academic internships in leading companies such as the Rafa Nadal Academy, a world-leading high performance centre whose objective is to train young sportsmen and women from all over the world in top level facilities, LALIGA and its Clubs, Babolat, AS, Playstation, JOMA, Decathlon, You First and Football Emotion.

Through this new programme, both companies reinforce their commitment to excellence by combining their expertise and knowledge of the sports and education industries, all while leading the way in training tomorrow's professionals for the sports industry. The increasing professionalisation of sports management, from marketing and business activities, to the administration of sports properties, management of organisations, and consultancy services for teams and athletes, is a reality that has led to a growing search for specialist personnel in these areas.

This new degree is endorsed by the Spanish Federation of Sports Management Associations (FAGDE), as well as 45 companies and societies within the sports industry. It will also have additional certifications for the promotion of digital transformation and innovation in line with the unique and distinctive UAX model, which seeks to integrate technology within all its degrees. Furthermore, LALIGA's contribution will be key in certain aspects such as master classes and specific projects that will be developed on campus or at LALIGA's headquarters.

The new Degree in Sports Management will be integrated within the UAX Rafa Nadal School of Sport’s educational offer, which the UAX sports school promoted together with the Rafa Nadal Academy and Rafa Nadal's team.

Miguel Palencia, Director of the UAX Rafa Nadal School of Sport, expressed his delight with the new agreement: “Launching the Degree is a very important milestone in the school's objectives with Rafa Nadal's team. We believe that we have an obligation to promote the pool of future professionals in the sector and that means specialising beforehand, as happens in the USA, where the entire industry is professionalised. Having LALIGA as a partner in the project is an honour for the school as we share many values and plans for training and education in sports management in Spain and internationally".

Maribel Nadal, Deputy Director of the Rafa Nadal Academy, stated: “At the Rafa Nadal Academy, we believe that this new degree is a very important step in the training of industry talent in Spain and as part of our project with the UAX, as well as reinforcing our partnership with LALIGA”.

As such, Juan Vicente Marín, Deputy Director to the Executive General Management of LALIGA, highlighted that: “This strategic alliance with the UAX is another example of our commitment to excellence and innovation in the training of sports professionals. It's also a privilege for us to be able to partner with leaders in the sports sector, as we have done previously with the RafaNadal Academy”.

Furthermore, José Moya, Director of LALIGA BUSINESS SCHOOL, pointed out that: “In 2018, LALIGA made a commitment to education with the creation of its own Education Department, and now, thanks to this partnership with the UAX, this commitment is further strengthened, as we know that training helps the growth of the sports industry”.

The arrival of this new degree comes at a time when the sports industry is in the midst of a professionalisation and evolution phase, in order to develop new efficient management models that extend across the whole industry and focus on managing the fan as a customer. The academic degree programme is based on ADE studies and has been adapted to meet both the theoretical and practical training demands required by the sports industry.
