FC Barcelona are going to be back in action soon as the international break is finally over at last for most of their players. However, without almost any breaks for them, those players will now be expected to face off against Celta Vigo. After a tough loss to Real Sociedad in their last outing, Barcelona will be pushing for a win.
Unfortunately for the Catalan giants, they have an injury crisis of sorts to deal with simultaneously. Up ahead in the attack, La Blaugrana already have several attacking options injured, as well as arguably their most important forward.
Lamine Yamal, a player who continues to add awards to his collection, is looking unlikely to participate in the game against Celta Vigo. It seems that the injury he sustained will now keep him sidelined for this upcoming La Liga fixture as well.
However, it will be a difficult task for Hansi Flick to replace Yamal in the starting eleven until he returns to action. The experiment with Fermin Lopez ended up failing miserably last time out, but there are at least a few other options that the German coach could try out as well.
As highlighted by SPORT, there are two least two routes that Flick could take while attempting to find alternatives to Lamine Yamal. Both of these options would value different things, but they are the best that the Barcelona coach could hope to work with right now.
The first and most obvious option would be to give Pau Victor the start. Beyond just being a natural forward, the Spaniard is also a clinical goalscorer and a player who has the ability to play essentially anywhere along the frontline of the team.
This would most likely result in Hansi Flick deploying the former Girona forward on the left side of the attack while Raphinha shifts towards the right. The centre would then be occupied by the likes of Dani Olmo or possibly Pedri.
On the other hand, Hansi Flick could also look to deploy an attacking midfielder out wide and then bring in Frenkie de Jong to replace said midfielder within the middle of the structure. Dani Olmo or Pedri could fill that role out wide, while the other tends to the central attacking midfield role, a position in which Fermin Lopez is also a much more viable option than he turned out to be out wide.
