Despite their troubles in La Liga, FC Barcelona have remained a force to reckon with in the UEFA Champions League since the start of the season. Hansi Flick was able to get yet another victory for his side in the European competition last night, this time against a difficult Borussia Dortmund side at Signal Iduna Park.

With this win, the Blaugranes have won five consecutive UCL games, and now they stand second in the League Phase table, only behind Liverpool, with 15 points.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Hansi Flick was naturally quite happy with his team’s performance and he expressed this happiness as he spoke to the media after the game.

The German tactician was very proud of the way his team had performed in this match: “We can be very proud of how we believed in ourselves and how the players showcased their quality.”

The Barcelona coach expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance in the very different two halves of the game:

“The first half was wonderful, and in the second half, when Dortmund scored, we remained stable. I would talk about the team’s ability to suffer, although that might not be the right word. Dortmund played very well, their players have a very high pace and are difficult to defend, but we did well.”

Flick admitted that some mistakes were committed that led to goals from Dortmund, but was confident that his team can improve going forward:

“The goals came from some mistakes, but we can always improve. However, I have to congratulate the team because they did great.”

The Barcelona trainer analysed the match a bit to end this media talk:

“The ball possession in the first half was calm, as we wanted. And when we made the changes, they were direct and we scored the second goal. You can see that the team believes in itself.”

With this victory, Barcelona have paved their way to direct qualification for the Round of 16. They now have two La Liga matches remaining this year, and hopefully, Hansi Flick can guide his team to victories in these games as well.

However, Flick won’t be able to take his place on the bench due to the red card he received during the clash against Real Betis. Still, securing these wins could help ease the pressure the team has been facing in the league lately.
