Lamine Yamal’s performance this season has been remarkable, with 11 goals and 13 assists in 31 appearances, making it clear that his contribution to the team is undeniable.
Since the start of the season, he has been a standout player. While his statistics are impressive, they do not tell the whole story of his impact on the pitch. However, there is one statistic that stands out as a bit puzzling.
Despite his overall success, Yamal has not scored in La Liga for nearly four months. His last goal in the Spanish league came on October 26, during the iconic Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, when Barcelona triumphed over Real Madrid.
On that memorable night, the teenager found the back of the net with a stunning right-footed shot, making it 3-0.
Since then, he has failed to score in the league, accumulating 730 minutes of playing time without a goal, which adds up to a total of 12 hours on the pitch. This is particularly surprising given the winger’s excellent performances in other competitions.

Following the Clasico, Yamal found the net in the Champions League against Atalanta, in the Copa del Rey against Betis and against Valencia, and also scored in both the semi-finals and final of the Spanish Super Cup, against Athletic and Real Madrid, respectively.
In fact, in these tournaments, he has averaged a goal every game, which makes his La Liga drought even more striking.
Looking at the numbers more closely, Yamal has scored 11 goals in 2,509 minutes of play this season, which translates to an average of one goal every 228 minutes.
However, his goal-scoring rate in La Liga is lower, with five goals in 1,620 minutes, or one goal every 324 minutes.
In contrast, his performances in the Champions League, Copa del Rey, and Super Cup have been more prolific, with six goals in just 889 minutes, averaging a goal every 148 minutes.
This stark difference in his goal-scoring efficiency between competitions highlights the unusual nature of his La Liga form this season.
