Ander Herreraâs long-anticipated move to Paris Saint-Germain has been completed.
The midfielder has signed a lucrative five-year deal at the Parc des Princes following his Manchester United exit.
And it has emerged that it was money that was the sticking point which put paid to his Old Trafford career.
According to a reputable story in Goal, it is claimed that Herrera left due to the club being unwilling to meet his £350,000 per week wage demands.
Although United had been keen on keeping the Spaniard, they were not keen on breaking the bank to do so.
Herrera reportedly felt that he deserved a large salary hike due to the exorbitant wage that the underperforming Alexis SĂĄnchez earns.
With the Chilean on a base salary of £390,000 per week, the midfielder believed he had earned a similarly hefty pay packet.
But United flatly refused to further increase their mammoth wage bill at a time when they are attempting to offload SĂĄnchezâs contract.
Herrera has not received the £350,000 he requested at United in the French capital.
That said, reports in both the Mirror and Daily Mail claim that he will earn in the region of £300,000 per week though, on a deal which runs until 2024.
